National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of ICFAI University, Dehradun
Introduction
The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of ICFAI University, Dehradun functions in accordance with the objectives laid down by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, and the NSS State Directorate, Uttarakhand. The Annual Action Plan for the year 2026 aims to integrate academic learning with community service through systematic, sustained, and need-based outreach activities, guided by the NSS motto “Not Me, But You.”
Vision
To build socially responsible, service-oriented youth with leadership qualities and a commitment to nation-building through active community engagement.
Mission
- To inculcate the spirit of selfless service among students.
- To provide opportunities for practical learning through community service.
- To promote social harmony, environmental sustainability, and national integration.
- To prepare students for responsible citizenship and leadership roles.
Objectives of the NSS Unit
- To enable students to understand community needs and societal challenges.
- To develop civic sense, social responsibility, and ethical values.
- To foster leadership qualities, teamwork, and democratic attitudes.
- To promote national integration and social harmony.
- To build disaster preparedness and emergency response capabilities.
- To contribute to literacy, health, environment, and community development initiatives.
Target Group
- Undergraduate and Postgraduate students of ICFAI University, Dehradun
- Local communities in Dehradun district and adjoining rural/semi-urban areas

Monitoring and Evaluation
- Regular review meetings conducted by NSS Programme Officer(s).
- Maintenance of attendance registers, activity reports, photographs, and volunteer diaries.
- Feedback from community beneficiaries and volunteers.
- Annual report submission to the NSS State Directorate, Uttarakhand.
Budget and Resource Mobilization
- Support through University resources and collaborations with government agencies and NGOs.
Conclusion
The NSS Annual Action Plan of ICFAI University, Dehradun aims to foster holistic development of students by blending academic learning with meaningful community service, thereby contributing to the social, environmental, and national development goals of Uttarakhand and India.
