Internship Program
The Summer Internship Program is undertaken after the second semester of the program and is faculty-supervised. The duration of the program is around three months. The Summer Internship Program equips the students with practical application skills relevant to various situations. It is an attempt to bridge the gap between the professional world and the academic institutions. It is a simulation of the real work environment and enables students to experience the rigors of a professional organization.
Objectives of IP
- To provide students with opportunities to apply the concepts learnt in the classroom to real life situations.
- To sensitize students to the nuances of a work place by assigning time bound projects in a company.
- To provide students a platform to work and develop a network which will be useful to further their career prospects.
Industry Interaction
The University consciously encourages industry interaction with a wide cross-section of professionals in the industry. Summer projects, industry interaction programs, seminars, etc., organized in association with the industry offer students an opportunity to exhibit their organizational and communication skills, analytical abilities and awareness of contemporary issues to leading recruiters.
Internship for IcfaiTech students, ICFAI University Dehradun
Internship Programs
For the development of institutionalized linkages with society and industry, unique Internship Programs are offered.
The Internship Programs ensure that linkages are developed and sustained with industrial and other organizations outside the world of academia. They serve as a formal method within the curriculum, to bring the realities of the world of work into the educational process.
The Programs require that the students undergo the rigors of the professional world in form as well as in substance, and provide them with an opportunity to apply their classroom knowledge to live situations. They differ from "Practical Training" as well as "Sandwich Schemes" in that the entire student education during the Internship Programs is supervised by faculty and forms a part of the students' total credits toward their degree.
There are two Internship Programs: IP-I of two months
duration, implemented during the summer following
the second year of study, and IP-II of five and a half
months duration, implemented in either the VII
Semester or the VIII Semester, during the final year.
The Internship Programs offers several benefits to all
the three partners in the conduct of the programs,
viz., the students, the external organization, and the
Institute:
Benefits to the Students
- Opportunity to work on real-life problems in actual working conditions
- Development of useful work-related skills
- Enhanced placement opportunities
- Opportunity to earn while learning.
Benefits to the External Organization
- Value addition through the participation of students and the faculty in project work directly relevant to the organization
- Direct contribution to industrial productivity
- Direct access to expertise available with the Institute
- Access to students who work as temporary employees of the organization
Benefits to the Faculty of Science and Technology
- Hands-on training facilities to its students
- Faculty development through involvement with the students in real-time projects
- Curriculum updation through feedback from industry
- Consultancy opportunities.
