Resources Facilities

A competent and committed faculty team is in place at department. Most of the faculty members hold Ph.D. degrees while the others have Post Graduate Degrees and good teaching and industrial experience. Mostly the faculty members are from IIT’s, IISc, reputed Institutes/Universities.

Several steps are taken to ensure quality education. These include interactive teaching, continuous multiple criteria evaluation, and feedback from students. The faculty members bring their extensive knowledge, professional experience, and advanced education to their task. The faculties are drawn from industry, leading institutions, practicing professionals, and academicians to enhance the quality of academic delivery.

Library Facilities

IUD campus has well-stocked library containing reference material, and Indian and international books and magazines. Subscriptions to industry information databases ensure that extensive research resources and publications with search facilities are available to students and faculty. In addition, the libraries contain directories, industry reports, and statistical compilations that provide timely and concise information for project work. The library facilities are open to all students and faculty members and are continuously updated with the latest books and journals.

Computing Facilities

The latest hardware and software infrastructure are in place to cater the computing needs of all the students and the training requirements of computer science related program. The campus is equipped with powerful servers and multiple terminals with multiple operating systems. The students are guided by well-experienced faculty members in the computer labs High Speed Internet access is available to the students and faculty through leased lines.

Laptop Computers

It is essential that student joining the B.Tech. program need to have laptop / computer during the study period, since the computers are extensively used as part of the curriculum at ICFAI Tech School. Hence it is mandatory that student make their own arrangement to buy the same, when they join the program.

Workshop and Laboratory Facilities

Workshop with various machine tools and equipment including a CNC machine, support hands-on-training in various areas of Workshop practice. State-of-the-art labs are there for Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Digital Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Microprocessors and Instrumentation, Electronics and Communications, VLSI-CAD, Microprocessor and Micro Controller, Digital Signal Processing, Robotics, Fiber-optics and Optoelectronics, Computer Aided Engineering Graphics, Operating Systems, Computer Networking, Computer Graphics Programming, Concrete Technology , Transportation Engineering , Geotechnical Engineering, Material Testing , Production Technology, HMT, CAD/CAM lab, Hydraulics and Measurement Techniques lab to acquire skills and expertise in different branches of Science and Engineering.

Department of Civil Engineering

Concrete Technology Laboratory
The Laboratory is equipped to run standard tests on cement, aggregates, and concrete. Equipments available are meant for testing properties like workability, strength, setting time, etc.

Transportation Engineering Laboratory
Highway materials comprise of Soil (Sub grade & embankment), aggregate (Course & fire), binders, bitumen, & Cement. Equipment are used for conducting field and laboratory Tests on sub grade, aggregates, bituminous materials and bituminous mixes.



Geotechnical Engineering Laboratory
Equipments are used for the engineering classification of soil, studying the compaction properties of soil and measuring the permeability, compressibility, and strength of soils used for many engineering problems such as design of foundation, retaining walls, slabs, bridges, piles, sheet piling





Surveying Laboratory
Surveying Lab is very important for the students as it provides the full knowledge about the Ranging and Fixing of Survey Stations, Measurement and adjustment of included angles, horizontal and vertical distance of site plans, etc. Students can learn the techniques for gathering field data with both traditional and modern instruments.

Material Testing Lab
Material Testing Lab is very important for the students as it provides the full knowledge about the Tensile Strength of materials, Compressive Strength of materials, Rupture of Wooden Beam, etc. With this lab students will come to know about the hardness of material, strength of material, cracking of material, etc.





Fluid Mechanics Laboratory
Fluid Mechanics lab is related to fluid properties. In this lab, students study about the fluid motion, fluid properties, behavior in motion and steady condition, head loss during flow, etc.







Hydraulic Machines Laboratory
In this lab, students study about the performance of various hydraulic machines like hydraulic jump, Pelton Wheel, Centrifugal Pump, etc.





Computer Aided Design Laboratory
In CAD Lab there are latest configuration computer systems with software like AutoCAD and Staad.PRO used for various applications like Drafting, Modeling, Quantity estimation, Analysis and Designing.

Engineering Drawing Laboratory
In this lab, students study how to design the building structures on drawing sheet. This lab will useful for the students for design and planning purpose. With this lab, student will come to know about the Development of Front Elevation and Sectional Elevation from a given plan.

Computer Science & Engineering Department

The Department has well equipped computer laboratories containing sufficient number of computers to conduct lab sessions. The computers are dual boot (Windows/Linux) systems and all are connected to servers. These labs mainly cater to the needs of OOP’s, JAVA, PL/SQL and .NET programming needs of the students. High Speed Internet is made accessible to the students and faculties in all laboratories.

Specialized Computer Lab: In this lab, hands -on learning expertise is provided by allowing students to work on system programs that implement the concept learned in lectures and primary text reading. This contains key operating system and system programming concept for Unix/Linux and Windows. The labs use MySQL , SQL server 2008 (R2), Oracle9i as database software’s, C/C++, java compiler, Matlab etc as programming language compilers, Linux / Windows as operating system. Advance software’s such as Visual Studio 15 also used for developing web and desktop applications.

Computer Networks Lab: Lab using software like CISCO packet tracer, WIRESHARK and NMAP. Using packet tracer software students will be able to perform simulation, visualization, authoring, assessment, and collaboration capabilities. Packet tracer also facilitates the teaching and learning of complex technology concepts. Wireshark is free open source software which is used to analyse network packets.

Computer Graphics Lab: The lab caters the basic concept of computer graphics and the need of developing graphics applications. Understanding concept of color generation, hardware involved in building graphics applications, representation and transformation of images and pictures.

Operating System Lab: The lab includes Operating System, Unix Programming and System and Network Programming. Aimed to familiarize students with the architecture of Unix OS, to provide necessary skills for developing and debugging programs in Unix environment. Students will gain knowledge in writing software routines modules or implementing various concepts of operating systems.

Electronics and Communication Engineering

Digital Electronics Lab: Digital Electronics is the heart of today’s electronic industry, Most of the electronics gadgets available nowadays are digital. The basic knowledge of this field is must for an electronics engineer. This Lab includes the practical in the filed of various digital circuits and components. It includes various electronics digital components including Gates , Multiplexers , Adders and several other components used in the Digital electronics.

Fundamental of Electrical Engineering Lab: Electrical Engineering has crucial role for all other branches of Engineering, the basic knowledge of electrical supply and power is a must for an Engineer as all the instruments and equipments derive the power supply from one or other electrical source. This lab includes the practical based on the single phase and three phase supply for various electrical circuit configurations and also include the practical based on circuit analysis.



RF And Microwave Lab: Radio frequency plays a crucial role in today’s modern communication ranging from satellite communication to any other form of modern communication scenario. It imparts the student with the practical hand to various components at Microwave frequency. This lab includes the practical based on various technologies, components and Antennas to be used in Microwave frequency, with the inclusion of this lab in the curriculum it is obvious that the students know more in depth about the RF frequency based communication technology.



Electronic Circuit Analysis Lab: Electronic Industry is booming day by day. The students are required to have some expertise in electronics technology. This lab includes the practical starting with the transistor based amplifier design and several other electronics circuits that has importance in the electronics industry. This lab is based on the latest tools and imparts to students good amount of technical skills as required for electronics industry



Analog Communication Lab: Communication is the heart of soul of today’s engineering world. Various communication technologies and equipments are available in the market. Electronics Communication sectors has many job opportunities. Through Analog Communication Lab we impart to students the basics as well as advanced knowledge of communication technology as well as equipments and instruments being used in the modern electronics communication industry.

Digital Communication Lab: Digitization of all the technologies is going on at a very faster rate. Every thing is getting digitized. Digital Communication lab is an example of digitization of electronics communications. Various Digital Communication technologies are included in this lab. This lab is very crucial for a communication engineer , it opens door to various job opportunities for the electronics communication professionals



Microcontroller and Application Lab: A microcontroller is a versatile chip which can be used in various fields starting from simple consumer electronics to high end medical, automobile and defense applications also. so, now a days microcontrollers are found in every walk of life. In the Lab of microcontroller students learn about the programming in assembly language and C on keil software. And with the knowledge of this programming students can take any project related with the interfacing of DC motor, various sensors and communication system. This Lab gives them hands on experience of microcontroller. And they can take any project like Quad copter, Human speed detection, Hand motion controlled robotic arm, Hand motion controlled robotic vehicle, Ultrasonic radar projects and many more.



Linear Integrated Circuit Analysis Lab: This laboratory has state-of-the-art electronic equipment including Industry-standard Digital Oscilloscopes, Signal Generators, high quality consumables, measuring instruments and components. The objective of this lab is to expose the students to experimental techniques applied to Integrated circuits. Students are expected to become familiar with the operation of operational amplifiers & IC 555 Timer and their linear & nonlinear applications. Individual project work helps students to explore their knowledge in real world.



HDL Lab: This laboratory houses high-end computer systems with Mentor Graphics software, Xilinx software and high-quality HDL Trainer Kits. The purpose of this laboratory is to train the students in developing programs for HDL applications, in designing complex digital circuits. using industry-level FPGA/ CPLD boards. Here, the students are exposed to VERILOG and VHDL programming.

VLSI Design Lab: This laboratory complements the course Analog and Digital VLSI design. The laboratory provides details about basic CMOS analog integrated Circuit design, simulation, and testing techniques. Several tools from the Mentor Graphics and Cadence systems have been integrated into the lab to teach students about analog and digital VLSI design and to make the experience more practical.

Mechanical Engineering Department

Department of Mechanical Engineering has well established laboratories with more emphasis being given on a practical oriented approach for the respective students; the following laboratories enhance the knowledge in a more defined way Workshop

This section consists of Lathe machines, drillers , Shapers , Welding machines , Profile projectors , Foundry , etc mainly this is oriented in the enhancement of the practical knowledge , since various jobs of the aforementioned are performed by the students itself they have an better idea or understanding to the theoretical environment.



Refrigeration and Air conditioning Laboratory



In this laboratory there are setups like refrigeration and air-conditioning tutors, cut section model of a reciprocating compressor which is used widely in refrigeration units, all of these facilitate the students to correlate the theoretical aspect of the subject.

Hydraulics and Hydraulic Machines Laboratory
The Laboratory consists of turbo machines like Pelton turbine , Francis Turbine , Kaplan turbine Centrifugal blower as well as Centrifugal pump, Jet Pump , practical’s on these machines helps the students with an idea of knowing the actual running conditions of these machines in the real world.

Automotive Engineering
This laboratory consists of real engines of automobiles, set up for conducting the performance test with variable compression ratio, set up for finding the flash and fire point of a fuel, Performance of multicylinder petrol engine, different types of working models of two stroke and four strokes engines ,cut section models of differential gear, clutch, disc brake, steering systems etc. All these aforementioned models gives the student enhanced knowledge in which he/she would be able to perform well in their internship programs.





Heat and Mass Transfer
This laboratory consists of setups for natural and forced convection, finding the thermal conductivity of composite material, parallel and counter flow heat exchanger, emissivity of given plate with the help of a black body , thermal conductivity of an insulating powder and Heat transfer through Pin Fin Apparatus. through which students can correlate their theoretical knowledge that they have acquired from the class rooms.

Fluid Mechanics
The Laboratory has setups to find the type of flow in a pipe , the flow across the elbow , flow through Rotameter , orificemeter both by using water and air, the Bernoulli’s apparatus proves the energy conservation principle. With these setups students can do an experiment by themselves and deduce significant results which can build up their research career.



Mechanics of Solids
Also known as the strength of materials and as the name sounds there are laboratory setups to find the ultimate strength of an material for various stress concentrations and orientations like Impact test , Izod/charpy test, Torsion test , Universal Testing Machine.

CAD Laboratory
In CAD lab latest software configurations are installed which are in line with the industries point of view. Students perform drafting and design part for different assignment provided to them. All computer systems are equipped with Autocad, ProE and Ansys software for the Engineering Drawing, Machine Drawing and CAD subjects respectively as per curriculum. Overhead projector facility is provided for the demonstration of different modules of the design part. Students get exposure to the design, development and analysis of mechanical components throughout the semester as required in the industries and submit the assigned project by the end of the semester.
